1.       Website

No matter how big or small your business is, you should have a website. You do not necessarily need a fancy website however it should contain the fundamental information customers – both existing and potential – will need. For example, if you offer a service (haircuts, salon, etc), you should have a feature to be able to book appointments or contact you to book appointments. If you are a restaurant, you would want to post your latest menu, opening hours, location, etc. The majority of customers will be less likely to visit to visit a store if they cannot find these details. To take advantage of this, you will need to ensure that you look at your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your website. Here’s a quick rundown of what SEO is:

WHAT: SEO is the method of making it easy for search engines to find your website and list it in the organic (free) results (as opposed to paid.

WHY: Customers tend to trust search engines so any websites that appear higher in the search results page will be more likely to receive more traffic. Also, the majority of people do not want to scroll down lists of search results so they are more likely to visit the top few search results.

WHO: Anyone who has information that people want to find on the internet should be using SEO techniques.

WHERE: Search engines (such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo) connect people all over the world to the content they are looking for. This may include products and services however it can also be information as well.

HOW: Using techniques that are more search engine friendly to increase chances of them visiting your website

WHEN: This is an ongoing process – it is important to continually monitor the information on your website and make sure it’s relevant and correct. Search engines also love new content which is why blogs are important to for your SEO.

3.       Social Media

Why utilize social media? Social media is an important part of your online marketing. It allows current customers and potential customers to easily engage with your brand or business. Although not every social media platform will be relevant to each business, it is important to research each one to see if they will work for you.

Social media is a great place for businesses to post news, tips, new products, informative developments regarding your products and services, videos and engage in customer service. For example, if you are selling beautiful visually aesthetic products such as jewelry, food or home décor, Instagram may be the way to go. It is also important to consider your target demographic.

Once you have decided which social media platforms you’ll use, think about the content you will share. The more relevant and engaging the content is, the more likely your potential customers will like, comment and share your posts. Engagement is one of the most crucial factors when it comes to promoting your brand on social media. Not only will engagement make it more appealing, the more positive social activity that occurs, the social media platform will see it and display your content to other potential people that may love engaging with your type of content. More people will be exposed to your brand and intrigued with what you have to offer. When they do, they’re engaging with your brand.
