Content Marketing may be the newest “gorilla” (guerrilla) in town. Why? Well first, we need to define what “guerrilla marketing” is. Guerrilla marketing is considered an advertising strategy that focuses on low-cost unconventional marketing tactics and is all about surprising the audience with something new and unique. This original term was coined by Jay Conrad Levinson in his 1983 book “Guerrilla Marketing.” Content Marketing is defined as “a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online materials that does not explicitly promote the brand but to stimulate interest in its products or services.” As we see the similarities between the two definitions, it is obvious that content marketing is just guerrilla marketing online.

There use to be this stigma that social media was just for kids and sometimes truthfully, we still think that. Think about when Facebook first came out, Mark Zuckerberg (the creator of Facebook) was in college!
